Archie

D.O.B: 2007

Colour: Appaloosa

Gender: Gelding

Archie arrived at HorseWorld in January 2013 as part of an RSPCA seizure. He was very underweight, neglected, and had terrible rain scald across his back. Once healthy, Archie was rehomed but returned in 2021 and joined the Discovery Team. He is a very sensitive horse who takes lots of reassurance from his handler, but he loves working with the young people and the grooms. He is very good at liberty work and likes to amaze the students with his skills.

Lunar

D.O.B: 2013

Breed: Welsh X

Height: 13hh

Colour: Bay Roan

Gender: Mare

Lunar was born at HorseWorld in 2013 after her mum was rescued from wandering a busy main road. Lunar was rehomed as a youngster to gain some life experience and when she returned the staff thought Lunar would make an excellent Discovery pony. Today, Lunar works on our Discovery programme during the winter time, as she suffers from sweet itch in the summer months. She especially enjoys getting lots of attention from the Discovery students and doing the obstacle course.

Breed: Irish Sports Pony

Colour: Chestnut

Gender: Gelding

Red first came to HorseWorld Discovery on loan in 2018 and quickly became a much-loved member of the team. A true gentleman, Red is a huge asset to the programme and has a special way of connecting with the young people he works with. He is a firm favourite with both students and staff, thanks to his kind nature and big personality. Although he can be a little high maintenance at times, always making sure his needs are met – that’s just part of his charm!

Charlie

D.O.B: 2011

Breed: Shetland

Height: 9hh

Colour: Chestnut

Gender: Gelding

Charlie was rescued back in 2020 in a terrible condition. He was suffering from a condition called Laminitis and his hooves were very overgrown. It took Charlie many months to recover but once he did, it was clear he would make an excellent Discovery pony. He is one of the smallest on the team but he has the biggest personality!

Beth

D.O.B: 2009

Breed: Shetland

Height: 8.3hh

Colour: Black

Gender: Mare

Beth arrived at HorseWorld in 2012 after being rescued with nine other Shetlands. She is a sweet mare who has taken a long time to come out of her shell. Beth is one of the newest members of the team, and she especially enjoys doing the obstacle course.

Sox

D.O.B: 2007

Breed: Welsh sec A

Height: 11hh

Colour: Chestnut roan

Gender: Mare

Sox arrived at HorseWorld in 2013 in foal, she later gave birth to a beautiful filly named Ruby. Sox spent some time out on loan homes to get some valuable life experience, before returning in 2022. She passed her Discovery training with flying colours in 2024. She is a quiet, sweet-natured pony who enjoys a good pamper session.

Cowslip and Barnaby

D.O.B: 2005 & 2007

Breed: Donkey

Height: 10hh

Colour: Grey & Black

Gender: Mare & Gelding

Cowslip came to HorseWorld due to overbreeding in the New Forest and Barnaby when his owner could no longer care for him. Donkeys are very closely bonded and must do everything together, so they work on our Discovery programme as a pair. They particular love being groomed and are so gentle with the students.

Bertie

D.O.B: 2017

Breed: Shetland

Height: 8hh

Colour: Dun

Gender: Gelding

Bertie came to HorseWorld in 2023 as part of a seizure of a group of stallion Shetlands. He was very nervous of people and new environments when he arrived but his confidence has grown massively. He now enjoys human interaction and his inquisitive character has come out. Bertie passed his training for Discovery in 2025 and the students love him because he is so fluffy and cute!

Ash 

D.O.B: 2017

Breed: Cob 

Height: 12hh

Colour: Piebald

Gender: Mare

Ash came to HorseWorld in 2022 as part of a seizure of a group of cobs who were all pregnant and underweight. Soon after arrival, Ash gave birth to a colt called Oakley. Ash has been out on a loan home where she gained lots of life experience, when Ash returned to HorseWorld it was decided she would make a great Discovery pony due to her relaxed nature.

Perry 

D.O.B: 2016

Breed: Welsh Pony

Height: 12hh

Colour: Chestnut

Gender: Mare

Perry was born at HorseWorld in 2016, after her mum, Sierra, was rescued along with a large group of feral horses. To build her confidence and life experience, Perry spent time out on loan before returning to HorseWorld in 2022. Now a valued member of the Discovery Team, Perry is known for her sweet nature and love of attention. While she can sometimes be a little anxious or nervous around new people, she quickly forms trusting bonds and plays an important role in helping young people feel calm and connected during their sessions.

Jasper

D.O.B: 2018

Breed: Welsh Pony

Height: 12.2hh

Colour: Black

Gender: Gelding

Jasper came to HorseWorld in 2020 with two other horses, he had not received much handling but otherwise was in good condition. Jasper started groundwork training the following year and progressed really well, proving to be a very sweet natured pony. Jasper is now a member of the Discovery team and loves his job!

Iris 

D.O.B: 2002

Breed: Shetland X

Height: 9hh

Colour: Skewbald

Gender: Mare

Iris came to HorseWorld in 2002 as a foal as part of a big organisational rescue. After maturing, Iris was taught how to drive and went on to a driving loan home where she gained lots of life experience. When Iris returned to HorseWorld, it was clear she would be a great fit for discovery due to her experience and love for human interaction.

Megan 

D.O.B: 2010

Breed: Donkey

Height: 10.1hh

Colour: Grey

Gender: Jenny

Megan came to Horseworld in 2024 after her companion passed away and her owner could no longer care for her. Megan is a sensitive donkey but enjoys learning new things. Megan is new to Discovery but is doing very well with her all training and is learning to long rein.

Rio  

D.O.B: 2014

Breed: Cob

Height: 12hh

Colour: Piebald

Gender: Gelding

Rio arrived at HorseWorld in 2016 after being seized with one other horse. Rio has been on loan homes where he was ridden, but returned due to lameness issues and it was later discovered he has a mild neurological condition. Due to Rio’s calm nature, staff thought he would make an excellent Discovery pony. He is a very sweet pony who lives life in the slow lane, which makes him great at building the students' confidence.

Elsa

D.O.B: 2009

Breed: Welsh Sec A

Height: 11hh

Colour: Grey

Gender: Mare

Elsa arrived at HorseWorld in 2020 with four other Welsh ponies and was pregnant on arrival. She had limited handling so was very nervous, and it took a long time for her to trust humans. Elsa is now a Discovery pony and loves a pamper session!

Benji

D.O.B: 2009

Breed: Connemara X

Height: 13.2hh

Colour: Grey

Gender: Gelding

Benji came to HorseWorld in 2023, after his owners could no longer care for him and he sadly lost his companion. Because of his friendly personality, our team decided he would make a great Discovery pony. He loves his job working on Discovery and getting extra attention!
